Model : RE580D

Hardware Version :

Firmware Version : 171220

ISP :

My RE580D range extender no longer connects to the 5gz band of my router...My router is the archer VR900V. I can't pinpoint the date that this started, I noticed that the 5G led wasn't blue anymore. Could it be the last firmware update? I read some issues about european firmware upgrades. I checked the settings of my extender and although when I set it up it detects the 5G band of the router, it can't connect to it when it reboots and doesn't pick up the 5g signal... In the system log it says "5G failed to connect to the front end". Any ideas?

I did a little more research and I realized that I am facing the exact same issues here as the users of this topic : https://forum.tp-link.com/showthread.php?96779-EUROPE-RE450-unable-to-connect-to-5GHz-network

It seems to be a common bug between Tp Link Range extenders, mine is the RE580D, but people had the same issue with the RE450. I tried a different, one band router, that my isp provider provided me, and the extender connects and repeats the 5GZ band normally. The router that I want to use is this one: https://www.tp-link.com/de/download/Archer-VR900v.html

Since it is in only in German and since I don''t see any bug fix any time soon, I would like someone to help me connect my repeater to the 5g band

Have you secured 5GHz network on VR900v?
It seems it's unsecured and you may try to secure it firstly.
If you disable 2.4GHz network on VR900v, does RE580 connect to 5GHz?

By securing do you mean if it's password protected? Yes,it is. By disabling the 2,4 Gz on the router, extender still can't connec't to 5G. I tried an older ADSL dual band router by Tp Link (which by the way messed up my line and dropped my speed from 82 Mbps to 68 Mbps...), the archer D7 - AC 1750 and the extender could connect to both bands. I heavily doubt that the router is malfunctioning since every device properly connects to its 5g frequency, I think it's more of an incompatibility/ bug issue between these two devices

In that case, it's recommended to email tp-link support with the detailed product information for a test or any further help.
