Archer C7 v2 crashed on firmware upgrade

I have seen the sticky thread regarding this router's problems.
Ever since the Windows10 1803 update I've been had dreadful network problems, so today I nervously installed the V2 EU patch 170803, via ethernet cable - but the router crashed when reboot was almost complete. I can no longer connect to it, tho some lights are flashing.
I have reset it to factory defaults by holding down the power button for 30 seconds but still can't connect.
I have a backup of the previous settings on a flash drive, can I restore the router via USB?
If not, is there anything else I can do? I am now desperate.
