Hi, I'm not a tech person, so please respond accordingly!

I bought the Tp-link Archer 1200 and I really like it! However, it doesn't connect with my telephone line (home phone). I followed the quick manual that was gifted along with the router, connecting it through the little white plug thing, but I can't make any calls with it. Everything else however is OK. What to do about this? I've tried googling but all that comes up is how to connect your work phone to the WiFi.
