TL-WR740N loses wireless connectivity

Hardware Version : V4
Firmware Version : 120320

Hello forum.
I'm using this router for connecting 2 PCs, one lap top and few mobiles.
The LAN network is always stable and never loses connection, but I'm having problems with the wireless connection. My lap top runs on wireless, and 3 Android mobiles, an xperia mini pro (problematic), xperia Tipo and Alcatel OT-908F.
Almost always when I login to facebook on any of the mobiles, pictures won't show, and also youtube videos thumbnails won't show.
On the xperia mini pro after 2-3 minutes of surfing, or doing anything else the connection drops, and then the mobiles can't see the wireless connection.
My lap top can see it, but it cannot connect. After restarting the router everything is back to normal.
Note: my Xperia Mini Pro doesn't "kill" wireless connection anywhere except in my home on the WR740N.
Wireless settings on my router:
Channel : 11 (there aren't routers anywhere close to me)
Mode: 11bgn mixed
Channel width: Auto
Enabled Wireless Router Radio
Enabled SSID Broadcast
Disabled WDS Bridging
Wireless Advanced settings on my router:
Beacon Interval : 100
RTS Threshold: 2346
Fragmentation Threshold: 2346
DTIM Interval:1
Enabled WMM
Enabled Short GI
Disabled AP Isolation
If someone knows what can I do about this, please help!
Regards, Mite.

Finally I have fixed the problem and the solution was... Changing the firmware to OpenWrt. Now my router is out-of-warranty, but at least it's working.
Anyway this confirms that it's a firmware problem.
And the encryption working wit openwrt ? Tryed ddwrt with TWO 740N ver. 4.21 and not working...

i had same problem.my router worked fine on first day but from second day it was getting disconnected every 30 minutes.i updated to latest firmware v4_13.03.29 but it made problem worse than before.disconnection every 3 minutes.so i downgraded firmware to v4_13.03.22 and changed settings mode:g only, channel 6 ,channel width 20mhz ,QSS disabled ,security WPA only ,WMM disabled, short GI disabled ,DHCP lease time 2880.and now my router is running since 35 hours without single disconnection.so try it.it might also work for you.

I guess this issue is with every TP Link router. My 702N and W8968 also hangs a lot.

I'm now sure that it is case with every new TP Link router.I heard that people have problems with various devices!TP Link will you react with some good firmware that solves this problems,I don't now is it due to hardware or firmware! But I think that TP Link is not interested in solving this problems! Because if they are interested they would solved it already! I've changed two WR-740N routers and with both there were problems

Hi Ahad1988,
As you can not login to the router's web interface, give a try as follows:
1. connect your PC to the router's LAN via an ethernet cable;
2. open windows command prompt, use ipconfig to pick up the default gateway.
3. then try to login to the router with the default gateway

Hi Ahad1988,
what's the default gateway? You can not even access the router with the default gateway address? What's the error message you get?
Besides, factory reset the router by pressing its reset button with a pin/pencil for 15s while the router is turned on. Then try to login to its web-based interface with the default gateway address.

WR740N hangs when Motorola Defy connects to wifi
2014-01-12 00:50:47
I have the same problem with a
WR740N
Hardware version: 4.21
Firmware Version: 3.16.6 Build 130529 Rel.47286n
Any time I connect my mobile phone Motorola Defy to the wireless network, the wifi connectivity hangs.
Any other device cannot longer connect to the wifi network until I restart the router (disconnecting the Defy makes no difference, only restarting solves the problem).
The other devices can see the network and even with a strong signal. However immediately after hitting "connect", it shows the message that there is a problem with the network. After restarting the router, everything goes back to normal.
I thought this was a problem with N and switched to bg mode, but the problem persists.
I'm using the last firmware in the Tp-Link site.

There is a DNS bug in the 740N firmware.
When you use router's internal DNS server, it fails to resolve some of the facebook hosts ( fbcdn-profile-a.akamaihd.net for example )
