Help with Arris TG1672 modem and TP-Link AC1750 router

I have a Spectrum supplied Arris TG1672 cable modem with 4 yellow internet ports (and no blue ethernet port). It has good speed (60-80 Mbps) when I connect a computer to it via a cable to one of the internet ports. So I know the modem works well.

I have the TP-Link router connected from one of the modem's ports to one of the yellow Ethernet ports on the router. Not the blue WAN/Internet port. At times I have good wifi and other times the wifi is almost non-existant. If I connect from the modem port to the blue WAN/Internet port on the router I have wifi but NO INTERNET at all.

Additionally, I am unable to access the setup page on the router. None of the URLs listed in the router's PDF startup guide work to get me to the setup screen on the router.

(Verify that http://tplinkwifi.net is correctly entered in the web browser. Alternatively, enter http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in the web browser and press Enter)

When I try the tplinkwifi.net log in page I get a page that says:

Oops! It looks like you aren't connected to your TP-Link network. Please check your network connection and try again.

Visit official TP-Link website >

When I try the 192.168..0.1 I get my Arris modem log in page.

When I try 192.168.1.1 I get:

The connection has timed out

The server at 192.168.1.1 is taking too long to respond.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this setup working on a reliable basis?  Or even how to log in to the router setup?
