Archer C7 AC1750 slowing down after few hours
Archer C7 AC1750 slowing down after few hours
I'm a very disappointed (and angry) customer currently.
I just 'upgraded' my TL-WR1043ND to an Archer C7 AC1750*
*Software: 1.0.4 Build 20180425 rel.72768(4555)
HW: Archer C7 v5.0
I loved my old one, because in that price that was the only one can handle my ISP speed. (meanwhile other brands has Gigabit WAN, but couldn't handle it).
Currently I have 1000/250 internet connection.
The old router could handle about 750-800 Mbps download speed, the new one (C7) can work with 900-950 Mbps. It's great.
The only and the biggest problem is:
After a month, without restarting the WR1043ND still had 750-800Mbps
On exactly the same network and config, the new C7 after a half day has 10-50 Mbps download speed. Unacceptable.
Restarting helps of course, but I don't want to restart in every 8-10 hours.
Yes, I'm using p2p networking, and torrent and others (without DHT).
But why the TL-WR1043ND could handle it and C7 can't?
---
I already read somewhere I should try to enable QOS bandwith control and it will work.
With Bandwith control enabled (on 800/200 Mbps), but the max speed was 150/20....
Help please (before I installing DDWRT on it)

Hi,
i recently bought Archer C7 v5 EU. exactly the same upgrade path from TL-WR1043ND v1.8
At first I was very pleased with the easy installation and great speeds upgade over the old one. Also I used dd-wrt on the old router bocause of VPN server. I'm very happy that now VPN server is embedded inside the original tp-link firmware. Thanks!
But after 2-3 days of work the router starts to drop Wifi connections, ping from internal network is greater than 150ms and with loss, (usually is below 1ms) My LAN is gigabit and consists of one 8 port tp-link gigabit switch and the router itself.
Reset the router and restored settings backup - again 2-3 days excellent work and then started dropping connections and speed degradation.
Please help! I can provide some log or whatever needed.
Regards!

When I wrote my first post, I already restarted the setup process from scratch, with changes:
- disabled SPI firewall (NAT + NAT BOOST still active)
- Changed PPoE from default AUTO to Manual 0 min (always active)
- enabled IPv6
- disabled (daily) autorestart
After 20 hours still good. Maybe I was stupid with PPoE auto setting?
Will report later

I have the same issue!
I changed from TP-LINK WR740N to Archer A7
It is slowing my internet connection, dropping off, leaving me without internet connection multiples times a day and I still don't know what to do!
I tried many things and still the same

A7 C7 are different models.
And connection dropping is a bit different from the issue that speed drops dramatically.
If you have connection issue, check it out.

3 days and still good.
It looks one of these things solved for me:
- disabled SPI firewall (NAT + NAT BOOST still active)
- Changed PPoE from default AUTO to Manual 0 min (always active)
- enabled IPv6
- disabled (daily) autorestart
Will try to turn on one by one later.

I have V2 of this router and only had the option of changing SPI firewall. So I changed it and I am now happy! I believe this to be the key setting!
