Hello,

 

We purchased a TP-LINK AC1600 Wireless Gigabit Router (Archer VR600) to use in a house that streams Netflix, plays online games and also does some office work and Internet Banking.  We should be receiving 20Mbps connection speed when connected to the network, as we are paying for a 100Mbps bearer line with 20Mbps provided network speed.  Our Internet providers are showing that there is no issues with their equipment and their tests are showing that we should be reaching that speed.

 

Once we have the Archer Vr600 connected, we did some tests and verified that the speed tests were showing approx 19Mbps speed; something expected as there would be a slight delay between our Internet and the server being used for speed testing.  However, after a short period of time, we are experiencing a severe slowdown of the Internet, to the point of the Internet being virtually unusable due to how long web pages take to load, and reported speedtests fail to reach 1Mbps.

 

We had setup a couple of TP-Link AC1750 Wi-Fi extenders, as the current device was unable to access certain parts of the house.  These have been removed in an attempt to reduce the devices connecting to this setup, but have not made a difference.

 

The device is configured not to allow 802.11b connections in an attempt to prevent old devices connecting and causing issues.  Again, this has not reduced the issue.

 

Apart from the configuration of the Wi-Fi and the network settings, nothing else has been enabled on the device.

 

 

The house also has 4G dongle connections, which work without issues when devices connect to them.

Is firmware latest? 

 

May contact tplink support for a solution.

We purchased the router in December, but could not tell you the current version of the firmware.
