Deco m9 plus speed
Deco m9 plus speed
Hi,
I am using deco m9 with Bell firber 1G in Canada. When connect my desktop directly to Bell moderm, I can get 1G as my download speed. However when I connect deco m9 to the moderm, and run speed test in the app. I only get around 500m as the download speed. Please see the picture below.
The top 4 test with above 500m download speed is when I set up deco by ppoe in IPv4. The rest is tested by setting up deco as dynamic in IPv4.
Another thing is when I use ppoe, the upload speed is significantly lower than dynamic IPv4.
My question is
1). Can I get 1G download speed by using deco?
2). Why upload speed is significantly lower when deco is operating in ppoe mode than dynamic IPv4?
Thanks.

Hi @doygwapo , the problem isn't solved yet. Still don't know if the problem come from bell or the deco router.

@DumaisPower This looks to be an issue with M9. I can see on the Deco App that DL speed is 500Mbps while upload is 900Mbps. Looks like somehow it is being capped. When connecting a PC on the second port in the M9 router and run a speed test on the PC, i get the full 1Gbps. this is frustrating.

@doygwapo me when I connect to the second port of the deco I only get the 500 mbps. If I plug directly in the router I got the 1gbps.

@DumaisPower For me it is different. Plugged in to both router (ONT) and M9 has the same 1 Gbps. I did some test and it seems that running M9 as an AP it looks like it has a cap of 500Mbps. When configuring it as a router, it is going over 500Mbps. Weird.

@Kaiyuan I'm from Romania, I also have a fiberlink 1Gb connection and three Deco's M9+ connected to each other via wires. It is tested through wired connections only. Interesting that testing directly from Deco's android menu the speed is very close too 500Mb/s, meaning that Deco's own hard&soft combination is not able for more. But from a computer connected through wired ethernet and passing two gigabit switches shows more, as in the picture below, meaning that Deco is capable of letting more than 500 to pass through.
Question for Tp-link: is there any way of resetting the Deco router other than unplugging it from mains?

@Bloodhound - speed at the end of the line depends of many factors and shouldn't be a real reason to send back your devices. I would suggest Tp-link to eliminate that speed test directly from the router, it has no real life use. In my house the faster computer gets lower speed closer to the router (passing through just one switch), I'm suspecting quality of wired connections. That advertised 1000 Mb/s by our providers is not to much use anyway, the speed of the internet is what you get from the webpage your're accessing, passing through many bottlenecks. I'm keeping that 1000 Mb contract not for the speed but because is only 1 EUR more than the 500 Mb one and in that price they include an extra 30 GB of cloud storage wich I use for sharing large amounts of files. For me main advantage of the M9+ is only the stronger wifi signal. I'm not using smart devices in my home yet.

Hey all,
I recently did some troubleshooting on this, and think I found a solution (at least one that works for me). Give this a shot and let me know if it works for you!
