I have 2 Archer C6 routers that I can't seem to get working with the new Onemesh functionality added in the latest firmware update. Prior to the second C6 I had the following arrangement (picture 1):

 

I managed to replace the office switch and access point with the second C6 in router mode and currently have it working like picture 2, with the main router connected to the first LAN on the second one, and in management it shows the second router as without internet access (I can't retreive clock info from the internet or setup a wifi schedule):

What I would like to do os connect it like picture 3 and enjoy the benefits of onemesh, but I can't, because despite the second C6 showing up in the main router onemesh settings, every time I click the ADD button I get a " failed"message

Anyone knows if this is a limitation of a 2 router setup, some quirk of the firmware that enabled this feature that was just released, or am I doing something wrong?

@Persechini you can't connect two routers together for OneMesh. One supported router and one or more compatible range extenders are needed to work with OneMesh.

@netcrypt9119 so onemesh does not work with any combination of onemesh compatible devices? only router+repeater combinations? that's a bummer, I aquired a second C6 just for this...

@Persechini only router + repeater combination. The below pic shows how it works

This seems like an awfully artificial limitation, where can I find a feature request form to express my view that there should be no reason to connect difference types of access points to a mesh network? wasn't OneMesh supposed to be the cheap and easy mesh network for the average user?

@Janio that is not the issue, DHCP server was disabled on the secondary router from the get go, and the IP is set manually (192.168.0.1 for main and 192.168.0.2 for secondary)

@Persechini At least you are very lucky. EU version of this router has no new firmware with Mesh or WPA3 support yet, and there is no estimated time for it :(
