RE200 constantly dropping internet
RE200 constantly dropping internet
I got a RE200 a few months ago and it worked mostly well initially. But now it's constantly dropping internet, sometimes for minutes at a time, sometimes even longer. I know it's not the router because I can get (slow) internet through that when the repeater's down. When it's having problems, I often see the two wi-fi bands dropping in and out. Here's what I've done to try and fix this...
- I've tried connecting to it through an ethernet cable.
- I've set the router to a stable channel with minimal interference so the repeater doesn't have to deal with channel switching.
- I've put the repeater on a static IP.
- I've changed the bandwidth from 20MHz to 40MHz on the router.
- I've moved it to two different locations, one closer to me (to test whether it was my connection) and one closer to the router (to test whether it was an issue with being too far from the router)
- I've updated the repeater firmware to the latest version I could find.
At this point I really don't know what else I can do. The router is a NetComm Wireless NF4V if that helps.
Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.

Same issue here. Bought a few days back. It keeps disconnecting several times an hour.
Connected to 2,4 GHz with good signal (doesn't matter if 2,4GHz or 5GHz).
Firmware version: 1.0.6 Build 20200708 Rel. 47302(6985)
Hardware version: RE200 v4.0

I have had the same disconnections on a TP-Link RE200 extender, just bought. I have updated to the last firmware release, which is 1.0.6 Build20200708 Rel. 47302.
Signal ok between router and extender, as well as extender and macbook. Nevertheless I got frequent disconnections, during which the leds on the RE200 were off (but the power). Once off, the network_EXT should be re-selected to connect again.
I am not very smart with this, but it sounded as a conflict somewhere. After many trials (upgrading and downgrading the firmware amond them), I have changed from "Auto" to "Off" the DHCP server of RE200, like this
I am not sure it solves the problem completely (maybe there are still interruptions now and then), but at least RE200 reconnects seamlessly and the network extension is happening, now. Hope this is helpful to other. I apologize for my poor english.
