Model : TL-WDR4300

Hardware Version :

Firmware Version : S-Ver = 3.13.23 Build 120810 Rel.44064n

ISP :

Hi TP-Link

I have a strange problem here.

I have recently upgraded my old working system :

I had a wireless Linksys-WRT54G , connected to a Dlink-24Port 100-TX switch (Servers etc)
The Linksys is also connected to a 8-Port Dlink-100TX switch (AV-Rack) , where my Tvix N1 Cafe mediaplayer is residing.

I have been able to stream movies from my Linux server via NFS to my Tvix without problems.

Last week i decided to upgrade my wireless capability to wireless-N with a TL-WDR4300 , to be able to stream fast from my Samsung Tablet.
And also replaced my AV-Rack switch with a TP-Link 8-port Gigabit Switch TL-SG1008D, so i had a Gigabit path to the AV-rack.

So my new setup is

TL-WDR4300 linked to the DLink-24-100TX (Server), and also linked to the TL-SG1008D (AV-rack).
Now NFS-streaming has stopped to work from the Linux-Server to the Tvix , i can see the top directorys , but no contents inside.
This could seem to be data-amount specific (could it be a jumboframe problem in the 4300 ?) or the 4300 interfering with NFS packets on the LAN-Ports ?

I suspected the 4300 to be the problem , and replaced the 4300 with a TL-SG1005D , just to see if the 4300 was causing the problem.
So now my datapath was :

Linux->DLink-24-100TX->TL-SG1005D->TL-SG1008D->Tvix , and everything works fine.
So the 4300 is causing the problem.

I later connected the 4300 to the TL-SG1005D , and was still working with no problems.
The 4300 was only connected to my ISP (Wanport) , and to the 1005 via one Lan port , so now i again had internet and fast wireless.

The datapath from the Tvix to the Linux is still not passing the 4300 , as the (mac-layer table) have learned that the Linux can be reached via the 1005's link to the Dlink switch. So it will forward NFS frames from the Linux to the Tvix without passing the 4300.

Linux->DLink-24-100TX->TL-SG1005D->TL-SG1008D->Tvix
..........................................|
..........................................v
...................................TL-WDR4300

So i'm able to get it to work that way , but has to make sure that the NFS packets are not passing the TL-WDR4300 , by adding an additional TL-SG1005D.

This is not optimal , and i would like you to investigate this problem.

Regards
Bingo

I think it will work fine too by Linux->DLink-24-100TX>TL-SG1008D->Tvix, right?

This is a strange ansver (quite useless) .... But i would expect so , but that is not possible in my current setup.

I need "Working" switchports at 2 locations , and expect one of the locations to be where the 4300 is installed.

So that still leaves me with a problem if the 4300 is in the layer2 path , between the Linux & the Tvix.

So somehow the NFS packets are getting lost/destroyed if the 4300 is involved in layer2 communications, between the Tvix & the Linux Server.

Does TP-Link ever acknowledge that they have read a post here ?
I'm wondering why nobody chips in , if even to ask for more info

Did TP-Link make "Silent Movie" ??
I always thought it was Mel Brooks , but i'm beginning to have my doubt.

TP-Link does our problems bother you at all ?
Or do you just want to shuffle hardware over the counter ?

My issue "smells" a bit of jumboframe issues , or the DLNA server interfering in nfs frames.
Come on .....

Same here!

I have the same problem with the WDR4900!
NFS will not work fast if it passes the WDR4900.

I use a Synology nas and a Mede8er mediaplayer. If I use SMB everything works fine! If I use a 3com gigabit switch and NFS it works fine to.

I have solved the problem!
I have changed the WDR4900 with another one in the shop, still it did not work! They gave me my money back, so I bougt an Asus RT-N66U! This Asus works perfect with NFS and also has a better range! Yes it is more expensive but it is worth it! No reboots for any change in the config, better range, NFS works great, much better building quality, much mor options (like one click to configure is as an Access Point).
Sorry no more TP-link for me anymore.
