@Muni

Hi,

i think it`s normal, when you get the same ip adress from dhcp, because the device is asking the server to re-use its old ip adress, if the device was not powered off.

When the device comes up it asks the server for the IP. And the server decides which IP to give. When the specific device was connected in the past, it`s a good decision when the DHCP server gives the last known IP of the device, doing so if the last IP is avialable.

When you reboot the C6 it is normal that it gives different IP`s.

Hope this helps you a bit.

Best Regards

Thank you for responding. Apparently no matter what I do I always get the same IP addresses. Restart the phone, restart the router, forget the wifi network on the phones or even reset the router etc etc. Always the same IP address. I thought this was weird but tplink guy in this thread (kevin_z) said it was normal. This is strange.

@Muni

Another point is, when I look at your LOG that you posted earlier in this thread, I see that your device has been disconnected from the WiFi.
In the user interface of the C6 there are options for WIFI under advanced / system parameters in router mode.
One parameter is for the groupkey. It is specified in seconds. After the set time, the Groupkey key is renewed for all WiFi clients.
You could set an hour for testing there and see if your clients can do it.
And above all, see if your bug is still coming.
As default this is 0 seconds on TPLInk routers, but most wlan clients should be able to do that.
Older clients have problems with this.

Best Regards.

@aTOMic1971

It is set to 0 currently. I'm going to change it to 1 hour as per your suggestion. I'll post the results afterwards.

Thank you.

Apologies for super late reply. No, it did not work.

This is an issue that is present in TP-Link firmware and many different models are affected by it. The forum is full of threads on these issues.

I should point out that TP-Link released a firmware update for Archer C6 (EU Version) that is supposed to fix this issue. You can see the details in the following thread:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/165494

@Kevin_Z  when will TP-Link release the same firmware for Archer C6 (US Version)? You have ignored this thread long enough. Now please provide an answer. Thank you.

@Muni I fixed the issue by changing the settings on 2.4 Ghz as follows (not sure which change actually works around the bug):

- Set channel width to 20

- Set channel to 11

- Mode to 802.11/n only

- Security Version to WPA2-PSK

- Encryption to AES
