Our Range Extender is not connecting with the modem, which is on the same corridor, 8 metres away, with no obstructions or walls in between. We try to connect it and after a few seconds, we get a red light which, according to the manual, means unable to connect. If we take the range extender 1 metre away from the modem, it connects perfectly fine. Does this range extender gives you a 1 metre of extension or we're not setting up properly? I am attaching a photo of the location to explain better...

How about the signal strength on a phone if you are in the same location as the extender as shown in the picture? Check and ensure there are at least three bars wireless signal from your wireless modem, otherwise, the extender may fail to connect to it stably.
