Recently brought this Archer C6 wireless router.   After upgrading firmware from original v1.1.0 Build 20190115 to latest v1.3.4 Build 20200512, I cannot backup device configuration.   

 

Doing a configuration backup (Advanced > System Tools > Backup) will create a text file .txt instead of a .bin file.   The wizard cannot recognize the file at restoration (Advanced > System Tools > Restore).  I have then renamed the .txt file to a .bin file.   But the wizard still cannot restore the configuration file properly.

 

I do not experience this problem in firmware v1.1.0.  Device configuration file .bin was created successfully at the time.   Only after upgrading to the latest firmware that I experience this backup problem.

 

Please advise if this is a bug with the latest firmware.

Hi,

My C6 is on 1.3.4 and its producing a 16kb .bin file. I`ve not tried to restore it. The device is in router mode.

You can try another browser (I´m using firefox) or set your C6 to factory defaults and type in your settings manually again and then try again.

Don`t try try to load settings from an older version.

I`m pretty sure this happened because you upgraded from an very old version. I´ve updated from 1.3.0 .

Hi aTOMic1971,

 

I have just factory reset the device and tried to back up configuration again with the same symptom.   Following your advice to switch to a different browser (from Microsoft Edge), I use Chrome to find the problem gone.    It is browser specific problem with the web wizard.
