Need help figuring out what's my next Omada step
Howdy All from good ole' Tucson, AZ (USA)
Omada home user here.
So I setup 3 eap's (2- 225, 1- 225-wall) at my house. I'm using the software based controller. Everything is connected with either CAT 6 or CAT 5e. Wifi is perfect, no complaints. I have about 8 drops in my house all feeding back to a 8 port Aumox POE switch, which connects to fiber internet. I have my TVs on ethernet. And will add some POE security cameras soon. I went with the 8 port Aumox, because its an outside install and they boast a higher that Ubiquiti/TP Link operating temp at a $60 price point.
So here are my questions: I want to beef up my internet security. I'm really interested in setting up a Pi Hole Ad Blocker and I've been wanting to get a security appliance that will sniff out all the bad stuff my 3 kids will throw at it. I've been waiting patiently for the Omada Security Gateway. Will the new hardware SDN solution give me a PfSense appliance and a Omada controller all in one? Will this replace me having to use OpenDNS? What about Ad filtering? Also, will it allow me to monitor my hardwired devices? I'm trying hard to stay with a TP-Link only ecosystem.
Lastly, anyone know of a Youtuber that caters to Omada setups. I can only find the Ubiquiti fan bois out there in full force. I want to setup VLANs/Port Forwarding for my IOT devices and could stumble through it but thought i'd ask.
Salud & Stay safe.
