FEATURE REQUEST: Ability to separately enable/disable WiFi/PLC backhaul on Deco P9
FEATURE REQUEST: Ability to separately enable/disable WiFi/PLC backhaul on Deco P9
Hello,
I recently bought 5 Deco P9 units to cover a large home. I was unpleasantly surprised to see that the devices prefer WiFi AND PLC backhaul by default (see attached image), even if a specific Deco device barely has a WiFi connection to the Main Deco. This results in very poor performance (150Mbit in the main deco unit plugged into the main router, 30Mbit in the secondary devices.)
This is highly disappointing, since the main reason I spent on these devices was for their promise of relying on PowerLine to distribute my Internet connection.
Is there a way to disable WiFi backhaul altogether? Please advise.
Thank you!
P.S.: I did tested the devices with different power plugs throughout the house, to no avail.
The Main Deco is plugged directly into a TP-Link Archer C6 (ethernet).
The Decos are configured in Access point mode, which should result in a star network set-up.
All the other Decos are plugged in throughout the house, in close enough proximity (as much as I've tried, I could not get them to be out of WiFi range from one another).

@TP-Link 1/2 Hello, all that information is available in my support ticket.
1. I've tried both modes - no difference
2. units closer to the main unit are obviously faster. However, there are thick walls in between, so some of the units have a worse signal and lower speed as a result.
3. I would like all satellites to only use Powerline backhaul - as that is the main reason I bought them for! I have previously tried other products and had the same result - the WiFi signal isn't strong enough due to the materials used in the walls

the option to choose the signal source is in the ASUS ZenWiFi AX Hybrid XP4 .... TP-Link, please do this with the Deco P9 software

@pawelb Thank you so much for that information! I'm tired of waiting on TP Link to listen to us. These are going on eBay after I purchase the Asus product you just linked to. I'll add it to my Amazon review to. Thanks!

there is a fix for the Deco PLC issue, you just have to manually change the firmware. I posted a guide of how do it in the link below.
