turning hardware nat off seems to fix the problem. Stable internet since.
even downloads are 8 MB/sec, a bit slower, but its ok.

Same here, it's been working all week. But i find it quite disappointing that i have to disable Hardware NAT to be able to get this thing to work.

What i find disturbing is that TechSupport did not even bother to reply to my Support Request...

Still working. Week later. Without the promoted Hardware NAT
A bit disappointing that no update has been released since, and in China
there is a V2. With 6 ext antennas that seems a lot better than v1 .

If all users have to do the following steps, you will be no compliant on your WDR-4900:

Go to Bandwidth Control -> Select Control Settings, Enable Bandwidth Control, Egress Bandwidth set to 7500, Ingress Bandwidth set to 1000000, if you have 1Gps Broadband.

Second step also go to Bandwidth Control -> Select Rule List, Egress Bandwidth Min to 2000, and Max to 7500, in Ingress Bandwidth Positions Min to 90000, and Max to 1000000

Finally, Tick the square to make it enable.

Hope this can help you !

Thanks for the recommended settings, but do that will make the router upload speed drop to max. 8~10MB/s, instead of around 80MB/s as expected.......

Here also problems with the EU version of the wdr-49000

Had a linksys e-4200...not had any problems with it..just wanted a bit more range..but with this modem the wdr-4900 everything is atm worse.

I could stream hd contect with my e4200 to my boxeebox in my sleepin room..same floor..2 doors between..plaster wall...now with the wdr-4900 is constantly get buffers
Also when i am streaming music (i am a internet dj)the wifi of my girlfriend shuts up..cant use it anymore.

looked at the tips here and indeed disabling hardware nat solves it..but speed drops...

Please fix.(hopefully its a firmware error) otherwise i have to write a baaad review on tweakers and harware info...and normaly i dont like bad review writing.

Ok TP-Link just released a new beta firmware, which solved ALL of my previous problem with WDR4900..

If you have WDR4900 V1, please download and flash it.

wdr4900nv1_en_3_14_1_up(130304)_beta.bin

Unofficial change report(base on my personal testing)
- P2P application no longer made the router unstable.
- Fixed real time media streaming bug
- Hardware NAT work again, no longer needed to disable for stability .
- Bandwidth control no longer needed for stability issue.
- Wi-Fi speed at dual band concurrent setting back to where it should be. No more stability or slow down issue.

download here:
ftp://everbest.ftpserver.biz/Share/TP-Link/TL-WDR4900 Firmware/

Update Procedure:
1. Open an Internet Browser (e.g. IE/ safari) and type 192.168.0.1 into the URL box
2. Enter “admin” into the username and password boxes
3. Click “System tools” in the left menu
4. Click “firmware upgrade” in the left sub-menu
5. Select the attached file (xxx.bin) by using the “browse” button
6. Click “Upgrade” and wait for the reboot

optional: do a 30/30/30 reset before and after the firmware flash.

This is a beta firmware, flash with your own risk.

And this firmware is for WDR4900 V1 ONLY , make sure yours V1 before flashing this firmware.
If yours is V2, this procedure could possibility brick your router

V2 is a 6 external antenna version(sold in Mainland China exclusively) It has different hardware than V1, like different CPU, Wi-Fi chip.

If in doubt, check the bottom of your router. there is a sticker , you can check your WDR4900 version on that sticker.
