I'm not sure I understand this fully, but how many devices do you have connected to the router? Try turning off all the others and see if that makes a difference to the connected speed indication.

I seem to remember reading that the speed is halved in bridge mode, as the router has to receive and retransmit all the data, both ways. Perhaps something similar is going on here.

i have got
2 laptops
1 desktop
2 android phones
1 android tablet
1 apple ipad

all of the above devices are wirelessly connected to the router

1 ipod touch (it doesnt support 802.11n so thats why i took it off the network )

i m not using the bridged mode, well as i have switched to Openwrt , i can actually see at what rate router is communicating with every device with the newer 802.11n devices the router communicates using 2 channels 20Mhz and 40Mhz and the connection speed with these devices varies from 100Mbos to 130Mbps , but with older devices who do not fully support wireless N standard the router uses 20Mhz bandwidth only for both channels and only achieve up to 72Mps connection speed .

Do you have latest firmware on the router? Can you test 20MHz and another channel? Do you have some application on phone with wifi analyzer?

Give me screen shot from inSSIDer or Wifi Analyzer (NETWORKS). What kind of wifi card do you have inside?

I think that problem will be in signal level and interferences from other networks. Give me screen shot from Wireless Settings on the router also.

Think so, because sometimes it's 5Mb/s, sometimes 2.5Mb/s, regardless of laptop indication that it's connected with 150Mbps speed. How to seperate my network from others? :/
