Hi everyone
I've tryied everything in this case with no luck...
I am trying to connect the AP via RJ45 to my laptop but the lan light doesn't get alive...
Have tryied another cable,another laptop,pc
every cable i've tryied works perfectly on another connection for example simple connection from router to pc, every laptop and computer lan's card works normaly...
The strange part for me is that when i connect the AP/Repeater on the outlet on the wall(house LAN network), only then does the LAN light get alive...
But even so (connected through the LAN in the router) i cannot ping 192.168.1.254 either 192.168.0.254.
Have tryied of course hard reseting it many times...
So i am stuck with this and i am seeking for some advise and help
Thank you in advance.

Device is new? Can you see any SSID from this access point?

1. yes of course i used this guide but i cannot go past preparation step while i cannot connect to the AP...
2. the DHCP is disabled by default on the AP so what's the point? Eitherways i tryied this also...
3. I didn't get quite that...
4. I would love to be able to use it at all but can't configure the AP as i am not able to connect to it...

Device is new, the wlan light is active but can't see it broadcasting anywhere...

In my opinion access point is broken, you have to give back device in shop.

.

Commander i know i answered more than what u need at this moment, but if u had only posted on #1 CANT LOG THE RE i would had understood easier, stick to #2 scince u can go from that point, i advice u to start over by rebooting ur RE with a pin, http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=202 then read here http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=358
and scince ur not posting Firmware Version : if its white Ver1 log with 192.168.1.254 if navy blue Ver2 log with 192.168.0.254
#2 i mean DHCP on ur Lap Top, to set up u need to use a static one, once u finísh u set it back to auto or dynamic
http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?id=14
From the guide under Preparation
Since the DHCP function on the Range Extender is disabled by default, we have to manually assign an IP address as 192.168.1.x to the computer to match the default IP address of the Range Extender. Please click here for detailed instruction. For TL-WA830RE, its LAN IP is 192.168.0.254, please assign 192.168.0.x for you computer.

#3 the root router ur repeating from has a security password either WEP or WPA wich is it
from the guide step 6
6.*** Click Wireless -> Wireless Security. Select WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, and Encryption AES. input the password "XXXXX" in the PSK Password field. Then click Save. The Security settings on the Range Extender must be the same as the root router. Please contact the support of the router to check it if you are not sure.

In my opinion access point is broken, you have to give back device in shop.

If u know What ur doing, as u posted on #1 I've tryied everything in this case with no luck... use jimasek advice

after resetting i had same problem , could not get it to connect at all, the only way was to make a windows partition and use EasySetupAssistant which can be found on the tp-link site.
