Hello TP-Link and Community

 

I have the Deco X20 (AX1800) home WiFi mesh system for my home. It's a 3 unit set up.

 

Currently I have it set up with Ethernet Backhaul (all Deco units wired together). The coverage is very good. But for an area that is not covered in the house with these 3, I would like to know if I can add a 4th unit to increase the range further?

 

And if yes, what model and what Deco unit will that be to purchase?

Please advise.

You can check the place that sold you 3-unit Deco X20, they might sell single units. TP-Link Deco availability is region specific, so unless you live in the same country I am this is the best I can suggest.

I can buy single X20 from the store in my country, and TP-Link Deco page states they offer single X20 units. 

 

When you have additional Deco unit, follow TP-Link FAQ article Adding an additional unit to your TP-Link Deco network.

 

Answering your question if I did that: yes, I've successfully added to my Deco set single Deco unit I bought separately.

Yes, you can add 4th Deco unit to your Deco mesh.

 

It makes sense to add same type of unit, so that hardware is consistent. That means, X20 is the best choice.

A few follow up questions if I may :
 

1) Can you advise how or where do I buy just 1 extra unit of the Deco X20 units?

 

2) Have you tried doing this and if so, how did it work?

Thanks for the further response.

 

I had my Deco X20 3 units pack brought in from the UK via someone. I didn't think I would need another unit, but I did. I need to find one. I don't think it would be easy to find one here but I'll look around.

 

At least now I know it is technically possible and that TP-Link does sell a single unit. I guess now my searching begins.
