I am on cable with using a modem supplied by my ISP. Archer C7 keeps throtteling download speeds to 200kb/s - 1MiB/s. plied modem because i have tested it by itself and i'm getting up to 18MiB/s

 

I've got 3 Networks setup (High Power Mode) 2.4GHz - (CH 34-50) 5Ghz - (CH 1-4)

1 -  Auto mode 2.4/5GHZ

2. - Guest 2.4GHZ

3. - Guest 5Ghz

Check your C7 internet port negotiated speed here :

 

 

If the negotiated speed is not correct then you can change it here:

 

 

Set your wireless radio bands like that (for each band separately):

 

 

Reboot the C7, then test to see if any improvement.

It's worth to check the wireless association speed of your client device (the one you're testing with) when connected to C7 5Ghz band.

I have changed all those settings. Download speed is still capped to about 1MiB/s - 2MiB/s. it might something on my ISPs end why its being capped with in modem mode. I might send it back and try another router.

Make sure you have QoS disabled, then test again. If this persists change the LAN cable between the modem and C7 (Cat 5E/6) and test again.

If this still doesn't help hard reset (method 1) the C7 and reconfigure from scratch with basic settings only, then test again.

If nothing helps so far, how about configuring VM Hub3 in router mode  and use Archer C7 in AP mode ?

Thus you won't experiencing the throttling download speeds and you'll avoid the Double NAT in your network.

It was OK before but when other devices connected its slowed down completely. Do i need two network adapters if i'm running NAT on a VM?

No, you don't need two network adapters for running VM Hub3 in router mode - here you can see how to switch from modem to router mode.

After switching VM Hub3 to router mode, re-configure the C7 in AP mode following the guide I posted earlier and test if any improvement in your DL speed.
