I'm having difficullty configuring a USB hard drive to my WDR3600

The WRD3600 is acting as a switch with my netgear cable modem router as the DHCP server. The DHCP server on the WRD3600 is turned off. the WRD3600 is accessible on my home network and I can connect to attached wifi and Ethernet devices.

when I attach my WD USB hard drive, I can see the device on the WDR3600 web GUI USB settings page. The WD hard drive service status is started and enabled. when I click on the open the disk link, nothing happens. When I try to access the 192.168.x.x/volume1 address, I get a page that says the username or password is incorrect.

When I disconnect the WDR3600 from the rest of my network and turn the DHCP server back on and connect directly to the router, i am able to access the connected usb hard drive.

is it possible to have the WDR3600 acting as a switch with DHCP server off and still access usb devices connected to it?

thanks.

I think it is possible to view the USB even though the DHCP server is off on the TL-WDR4300. When you turn off the DHCP on the TP-LINK, you need change the IP address of TP-LINK from 192.168.0.1 to the same IP segment with your netgear router and then try to use this IP address to view your HD driver.

i have changed to ip address of the WRD3600 - its ip address is assigned by the netgear router. The Netgear is by default 192.168.0.1, if the WRD3600 is assigned 192.168.0.2, then the usb device 192.168.0.2/volume1 is inaccessible even though i can enter 192.168.0.2 and access the WRD3600 setup gui page and it appears on the list of devices in windows network control panel

When you try the go to Start-->run-->\\192.168.0.2, you can open the disk. As far as i know that sometimes the "open the disk"did not make any sense. It can not work at all. But the run can do the job. I get this idea from this website: http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=420

Thanks gmail. I had seen that faq page before but tried to enter tplinklogin.net which didn't work. However your suggestion to enter the router ip address worked perfectly - problem solved.
