Model: EAP245
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: EAP245(US)_V3_5.0.4 Build 20211021

Hello,

Just confirmed last night that something is wrong with the 5.0.4 firmware version for the EAP245v3 AP.  I operate this AP in standalone mode. After updating and configuring identically the settings I had before on firmware version 2.21.0 Build 20200522, all 4 of my wireless reolink IP cameras that operated on the 2.4ghz band will no longer function.  They acquire an IP from my router and can be pinged, but the web interface is no longer accessible.  Rebooting the AP or the cameras does not help. These cameras return to normal operation if I switch the connection to the 5ghz band.  I switched out several camera's to confirm that the problem was not a camera failure, and also having 4 cameras fail with the exact issue simultaneously is extremely unlikely.

I successfully downgraded to my old firmware version and once again the cameras are operating normally.

Can you confirm?

Thank you,

Nate

I have some questions about the problem you reported:

What's the model number of your wireless IP cameras?

Do you mean that the web interface of your IP cameras was no longer accessible when the issue happened?

Did you notice any error messages popping out when the web interface is inaccessible?

Did you check other 2.4GHz wireless clients to confirm whether the issue would only exist on your IP cameras or not?

If the new firmware v5.0.4 breaks the 2.4GHz band, I think none of the 2.4GHz wireless clients would work.

@RedDelPaPa

I also upgraded to 5.0.4 firmware and had no problems.
What is your camera model?(Just for curious)
How is the EAP powered? Original adapter? POE switch? Or anything else?

Just striving to develop myself while helping others.

@Fae

Hello, and thanks for the response.

The cameras in question were 2 Reolink C1 pro's on their latest firmware, and 4 Reolink C2 pro's on their latest firmware. The web interfaces became accessible when switched to the 5Ghz band.

No error messages, just the web interfaces were completely gone.Timing out upon connection attempt.  Camera reboots did not solve the problem.  The instant I downgraded my AP firmware, the web interfaces became accessible again. Without the need for a reboot.

My work and personal iPhones appeared to still be working on the 2.4ghz band while on the 5.0.4 firmware.

If I didn't get you wrong, you cannot access the Reolink camera via web interfaces when the issue happens, right?

Do you use Reolink App to manage your cameras? Did you try with the Reolink App when the web interface was inaccessible?

The problem seems to only exist with the Reolink camera, unfortunately, I don't have a Reolink camera on hand for further tests now.

If possible, you may try upgrading to 5.0.4 firmware again and see if the problem can be steadily reproduced.

BTW, I found the following note in the guide of how to access Reolink cameras via a web browser from the Reolink website:

https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003452893-How-to-Access-Reolink-Cameras-Locally-via-a-Web-Browser

"If you fail to load the above pages, you may add the HTTP Port to the end of the IP address. For example, if your HTTP port is 88, then the URL should be 192.168.1.103:88. Refresh the page and you should see Reolink login interface."

Perhaps you may try it for further checking.

@Fae

Hello,

Yes, the reolink mobile app could no longer connect either.  I'm certain I had my URL's to the camera correct.  I triple and quad checked all of that.  The camera's are configured to listen on the standard port 80 for unsecured http traffic so there's no need to append the URL's with a port number.

Thank you,

Nate

@Fae I also have problems with the 2.4GHz band (EAP245 V3 with firmware 5.04).

After updating from 5.03 to 5.04, my Alienware 17R4 (W10 20H2) can still connect to the 2.4GHz network, but no data is transferred.

However, several smartphones seem to work on 2.4GHz. Before the firmware update, the 2.4GHz band ran without problems with the notebook.
If I set the WLAN card on the Alienware to 5GHz only, data transfer is possible again.

Both BSSIDs (2.4GHz and 5GHz) use the same SSID, the same VLAN and the stand alone mode.

Several EAP245 with firmware 5.04 have the same behavior, there is no entry in the logs of the EAP245.

@Fae Hello.  You just received confirmation that firmware v5.0.4 is indeed broken.  The problem is not me failing to enter the correct URL into my browser.  The person above has the exact same problem I had.

Are you able to reproduce the problem steadily?

It seems the issue only exists on certain devices, I cannot reproduce the problem with my devices yet.

If you are willing to try further troubleshooting, I'd like to escalate your case to the TP-Link support team for further investigation.

@Fae

Certainly.  More than willing to help.  My only issue is, I don't really want to flash my firmware back and forth from an older version to 5.0.4.

What I do know is, using firmware 5.0.4, my 4 reolink c2 pro camera's and my 2 c1 pro cameras will not function on the 2.4 band using the latest firmware.

Let me know what you need.
