Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20210414 Rel. 58075

Recently, I bought TP-Link Deco M4 Mesh to increase my internet speed. My ISP is providing 1000 Mbps and I managed to get 450 on my Macbook and 300 on my smartphone.

Thought to boost with TP link but was disappointed seeing the speed. Instead of increasing, i measured & noticed the downfall from 500 to 300 Mbps.

Before returning it back, I thought to ask in the community. If anybody faced the same issue and managed to increase the speed.

Unfortunately, I didn't see any option to downgrade the firmware version to test.

P.S: The above test has been done on 5 GHz.

Any possible solutions?

Turn off 2.4GHz in Main Network and see if it can improve speed, because then you will be disabling band steering and forcing your mobile devices always use faster 5GHz. If you see no changes, that's the best M4 can do for you.

Another test that you could run is to turn off all Satellite Deco, leave just Main Deco, and run speed tests with devices now for surely connected to Main Deco. What you will get in this configuration is the best M4 can deliver.

Except one more thing: if you run Main Deco in Router mode, change it to Access Point mode and these speed tests again. In Access Point mode Deco provides maximum speed it is capable of.
