USB port on TPLink WDR 3600 to share printer on Win7 x64 Ultimate

Hi there
I just bought this TPLink WDR 3600 in order to be able to print with my canon i865 over the home network by connecting it to one of the usb ports on the back as the printer itself does not have an ethernet connection.
I have installed the software and when I logged into the router on 192.168.1.1 it shows that the print server is online and it picks up the printer but am unable to print.
It keeps saying print error.
It comes up in the auto connect printer list as Canon Inkjet 1865 which is fine but it has a cross in the box and is giving a message underneath saying "The port of auto-connect cannot be a LPR/Raw TCP/SMB port"
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am really stuck and do not know what to do. Please help if you can
Thanking you in advance

Hello,
The printer manager is crappy with all the TP-Link routers.
It requires a special TP-Link software on each PC.
Configuring a simple TCP/IP printer is not sufficient like I did with my Linksys E3000 under DD-WRT.
I explained this issue to the support people but I've probably wasted my time...

Did you create a TCP/IP printer in RAW mode?

Try to find a tutorial on the web about "how to add a TCP/IP Printer in Windows 7".
The IP address to use is the local IP address of your router...

I know how to add an ip address what I don't know is if the usb on the back on this router has an ip address as the printer does not. Is is a canon i865
for the ip address are byou referring to my isp router or the tplink which I have connected to my netgear cg3000d from my isp
I found a way to flash the router if need be would that work or am I waiting my time

Sorry, I made a mistake, I modified my preceding post.
Do you want to install DD-WRT?
If yes, get the info you need from the DD-WRT forum.
If no, install the TP-Link USB printer controller utility for Windows.
