Hello @Ravlot
May I know did range extender detect router's 5Ghz signal during set up?
- Case1: If RE did not detect router 5Ghz WiFi, please try suggestion in the thread below and change router channel to 36/40/44/48
[Troubleshooting] TP-Link Range Extender is not detecting the 5GHz Signal of the Main Router
If that does'work, please share a photo a photo of Router 5Ghz wireless settings . When RE scan for 5G, could RE detect nearby or neighbors 5Ghz signal?
- Case 2: If RE was able to detect router's 5Ghz signal, but 5Ghz Led did not light up on RE:
- Verify your Wi-Fi password by forgetting your 5Ghz Wi-Fi network on cell phone first :
Go to Settings-> WiFi on your phone, Tap (or Long press the router's WiFi name ->Forget / Delete the network
Please reconnect to your router WiFi, it will ask for a password, will it accept your router password?
If still does not work, can I have a photo of router's Wireless settings, what is error after RE set up process, does the 5Ghz led light up after set up process? was there any Error?
Thank you

@Ravlot Thank you for providing more case details.
1. Please make sure RE is closer to main router, within 2 meters
2 Try a factory reset on RE and see if it could detect any 5Ghz wifi
Reset: with RE powered on , use a pin to push reset hole until all the LEDs flash once
3. Does RE itself broadcast 5Ghz Extender SSID (Extender _5Ghz or TPLINK extender XXX_5G) after a factory reset ?
Could your mobile phone see the 5Ghz Wi-Fi signals in the nearby, and could phone detect router 5Ghz Wi-Fi SSID.
May I know when did you purchase the tp-link extender, could RE detect 5Ghz Wi-Fi and work fine before?
Can I have a photo of 5Ghz wifi on the phone, and a photo when you scan for 5Ghz on RE, thank you very much!

Hey @Ravlot
- Try to change a different 5Ghz SSID for router , a simple SSID for test, like 'Test5G'
- If router has a WPS button, try to use WPS button to pair router and Extender , WPS twice one for 2.4Ghz one for 5Ghz
How to configure my Range Extender via WPS button to extend an existing wireless network’s coverage?
- May I know when did you purchase the tp-link extender, could RE detect 5Ghz Wi-Fi and work fine before?
- After reset RE, does RE brocast its own 5Ghz extender SSID?
If extender has been an old extender working fine before for certain time like months or years, it could be a defective unit, I suggested contact retailer or local support to get is replaced under warranty. If its a pretty new extender , may I have a photo of RE at the step of scanning 5Ghz WiFI, and the SSID on your phone, I would like to escalate your case

i tried with renaming 5ghz SSID of
main router to test5g and still the issue is same.
there is no WPS button
in had purchased it in Feb 2021 and i never tried to
Extend 5ghz before and i needed it now so tried and it is not working.
yes the RE305 broadcasts its own 5ghz SSID
i have even contacted support number and the were supposed to email me the RMA details but haven't got the email yet

Hello@Ravlot
So far it looks like a defective device, I also suggest getting it replaced under warranty, then you could wait for RMA email from the local support.
I appreciate your time and patience with troubleshooting. Feel free to let me know if replacement unit works for you later.
