Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20211222 rel.74632(5553)

My new AX73 router is not able to connect to my sony bravia tv.

I tried all, but i always get following message:

wirless device on TV = found

local access = failed

internet access = failed always

My old tplink AC750 works, but new router does not work. So should i return new routers?

can i get older firmware ? so i can upload old firmware and can try it?

And just remind that i had updated FW just before two days ago. and it is  the latest. I think there is some bug in new FW. I might be return router back to seller.

And those settings is also not working as you said.

You can't downgrade from the current FW release:

What you can do is to try to connect the TV to wireless guest network.

If that doesn't work as well reset the router to factory defaults and try again.

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

I have already tried using reset router and guest network but still not working.

I think there is sure bug in this router or firmware. If not resolved today, then need to return as soon as possible before return policy date is gone.

@Atul2 I was unable to connect a Sony 55X90J to a brand new TP-Link AX50.

I got there in the end by going into the networking settings of the TV and changing it to use a static IP address, the IP address of the router and the DNS of 8.8.8.8. Then the TV could connect to the TP-Link Wifi.

However it was failing authentication, saying password was invalid. Disabling "Smart Connect" and then trying to connect to the 2.4Ghz SSID, then worked.

I did manage to get it to connect to the 5GHz SSID, but the signal was too weak to be usable, however Speedtest .net showed good results with the 2.4Ghz.

It took me about 5 hours of trying different things and talking to people to figure this out. As the Sony TV connected to the old Apple basestation without a problem (but couldn't consistently get enough bandwidth), I think TP-Link should investigate this problem and work to mitigate this funbling around in the dark, otherwise it gives a very bad first impression of an otherwise pretty good router.

hmmm.  Did you find any such issue in ASUS ROUTER ?  Actually i just need AC router, because i dont have any device with wifi 6. So please suggest tplink with AC router that can work without any such issue or other brand. Because i am not technical and need to spend time on this.  I just bouther before 2 days and should return back immendiately it it can not resolve. And disable smart checkbox is not an good idea. I did not tried your suggestion, but disable smart checkbox is not good. In this case what is meaning to buy such router. If this is an hardware issue, then i should return it.  Right ?

@Atul2

I don't have any experience with an Asus router or other brand. I've been running an Apple Airport Extreme (5th Gen) for a decade and I've had no problems with it, except that it's a decade old router and couldn't consistently provide enough bandwidth to drive the TV at 2160 Dolby Vision.

I bought the TP-Link AX50 after reading several reviews that claimed it was fast and had good range, which is what I want. However I never recall reading that it has trouble with some client devices.

When you disable Smart Connect, it forces the router to display two networks, this way you can choose the one that has better range and thus get a more solid connection. With it enabled (at least for me) the router was trying to connect the TV to the 5Ghz network, where it's signal was so bad, that it couldn't even complete authentication.

If you're worried about being stuck with a router you can't use, return it today and get a different brand. Other brands will use different software on their routers and so you may not have these problems, but you may have others.

I'd suggest finding a local electronics retailer and speak to their technical department, if they install TVs, they'll have a better idea of which wifi routers just work and which one are a PITA to set-up and which ones simply don't work with certain TVs.

I understand your frustration, if I hadn't been made aware of the IP address trick, I would have returned this router the very next day. It provides a very bad first impression, which is why I urge TP-Link to investigate this and dedicate some resources it improving their connectivity with Smart TVs.
