Hi, 

I wanted to use the Ethernet lan port to connect the Router directly to the extender.

when that is done the extended network works perfectly and speed is amazing (as I am connected to the Modem Router with Lan cable..) BUT! The home original wifi network is now down with some type of error .

 

any idea why??? Any chance the lan port can not be used they way I intended ?

If you would like to connect range extender to the router through Ethernet cable, please set up RE in AP mode as guide below , which will transform the wired network to a wireless one:  How to setup Access Point Mode of Range Extender?

 

For ' The home original wifi network is now down with some type of error .' Can you help explain in details? 

It is also recommended to contact router support and see if they have any suggestions.
