Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.11 Build 20210730 rel.54485

Evening Everyone,

I currently have Steam (the gaming client of SteamPowered (dot) com) installed on 2 different wired PCs on my network. They are on different Switches, albeit they were previous to installing my AX50 as well.

I moved from a Virgin Media Hub 3 modem/router (ISP supplied) to using same in pure modem mode and installing the AX50. Nothing else changed on the network; I simply renamed the Wireless to mimic the previous channel settings.

Now though, I have a number of recurring issues. Most annoying is that Steam no longer reliably can maintain it's cloud sync. It simply seems to have problems uploading to the cloud from both computers.

I have placed each computer into the DMZ, because my understanding is that it basically opens every port and says "come at me"; power-cycled the computer and the router. Still had the same problem.

I also connected the computer via a Bluetooth hotspot, which had not problems, and directly bypassing router (using existing cabling) into the modem. Neither demonstrated the same problem.

I am trying to work out what is causing it. Port Triggering on the router seems to not let me enter port ranges, which all the guides I have found via Google suggest doing. Port Forwarding appears to reply on the ports being unique to a machine, which for two computers does not seem possible.

Any ideas?

  @SlowPsycho

Have you compared your Internet speed before introducing AX50 in your network and after that ?

Is there any difference when using VM Hub 3 in modem only mode/AX50 as your main router and when using only VM HUB 3 as a main router ?

I've seen some users reporting Internet speed issues when VM Hub 3 is set in modem only mode and using a 3-rd party router.

For what it's worth you could set VM Hub 3 in router mode and AX50 in AP mode (Case 1) and test if that will make any difference regarding your issue.

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue as a "Recommended Solution". Tips:149wubkkfoLmNDjDbiTxx4ZU8mpcMA5CJt
