Solution No connection latest generation VW caraudiosystem Discovery Pro MIB3 WPA/WPA2 AES mixed mode M7450
Hello,
my VW caraudiosystem refuses the Wifi connection with the message "Die Sicherheitseinstellung dieses Netzwerkes wird nicht unterstützt"
(the securitysetting of this network is not supported).
It doesn´t matter which setting i use, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK AES or WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK AUTO.
I tried two different Mifi routers from other brands where i can choose a WPA2 only setting. They are working without problems.
Please add the setting "WPA2 only" in the next firmware, if possible.
I think the M7450 is useless with the current firmware for customers with new cars (at least) from the VAG brands .

TP-Link MiFi devices
Issue Description/Phenomenon
1. Except for the car, all the other Wi-Fi client devices are able to connect the Wi-Fi network of our MiFi devices and work fine.
2. When connecting Volvo XC serials car or some Volkswagen cars, the Wi-Fi network is listed but there is a “!” on the Wi-Fi icon and message “Switch to WPA2(AES) on device” is displayed; Or there is a slash on the Wi-Fi icon and shows message like do not support the security settings of this network.
3. Issue is the same even after we change the security to “WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK AES” or “None” on the MiFi device.
Available Solution
Those cars only support WPA2 AES wireless security, WPA/WPA2 AES or open Wi-Fi network is not supported, please try to update the following firmware which added WPA2-AES wireless security.
M7350(EU) V6.2:
M7350(EU) V7
M7450(EU) V2:
M7200(EU) V2
M7200(EU) V3:
After updating to the above firmware, please log in to the web interface of the MiFi and go to Advanced->Wireless->Basic Settings page to change the wireless security to WPA2-AES and check if it resolves the problem.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.
May I have the model no. of your VW car? and if you change the WiFi of M7450 to be No Security, will the VW caraudiosystem be able to connect the WiFi(For testing only)?
After you try to connect the WiFi on the cal, please use a smartphone/laptop to login the web interface of the M7450, then go to Advanced->Device->System Log, please save a system log file and send it to us. Thank you very much!

OK.
The car : VW T6.1 California (Bulli )
System ID see attachment.
Trying the "normal" way to connect to the tplink-network, by tapping on the entry in the list of the scanned available networks, does´nt trigger any action by the carsystem, because it is already sorted out as "bad" . See the slash through the Wifi - symbol in the networklist on the picture of the networklist in my first post.
To make anything happen for the logfile, i used WPS. First time with open, unsecured network, second with WPA/WPA2 AES.
Hope this helps.

Hello, any news?
After some research here in the community, i found that this is a growing problem now and in the future. See your Deco -system. Without the possibility to change the security to WPA2 only, this line of tp-links portable LTE routers becomes more and more useless. Is there any work in progress to change the situation? Is a change impossible for this hardware?
Should i return the m7450 and go for another brand? This is the only solution for me, if there will be no change in the foreseeable future.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.
We have reported this issue to related engineers, and they are evaluating it now. And at the same time, I will try to ask for a beta firmware for M7450 V2 to add the WPA2 only security, once it is completed, I will share it with you for testing.
