Model: TL-WA801ND
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version:

Hi all,

The issue that I am facing is the following:

- i connected my device straight to my router by cable

- i am connected by wifi to the internet / I can browse

But then I go to the settings website tplinkap.net it tells me to connect to the extended wireless network, but I am. (Tried on multiple devices)

i have done a full reset of the device but that doesn't seem to clear this issue.

i also turned off all other data connection so I only use the tp_exent WiFi.

Anybody has an idea what I am doing wrong?

I want want to use the device as an access point so with the same network name etc.

Thanks in advance.

  @Ro84

Look at your main router 'DHCP client list' to find the IP address of the 801ND.

Then use http://<IP address> in a browser to access its web management interface.

If you can't find the 801ND IP address in your router 'DHCP client list' try the following:

After reset to factory defaults the IP address of 801ND should be 192.168.0.254.

Disconnect the 801ND from your router and connect your computer to 801ND ethernet port.

Set your computer with a static IP address 192.168.0.253 and you should be able to access http://192.168.0.254 in a browser.

Then configure 801ND with a static Ip address in the same subnet as your main router according to the guide I posted.

Reconnect the 801ND to your main router and don't forget to revert back your computer IP address to obtain its IP address by DHCP.

Use this guide for configuring 801ND in AP mode. You can name the 801ND SSID the same as your main router or different - it's your choice.

If you have a hard time to login 801ND web management interface, set 801ND with a static IP and use this IP address in a browser: http://<801ND static IP address>
