Moving Deco X60 to Different Router

I installed a Deco X60 AX3000 mesh network back in April 2021 and connected it to a Virgin Media hub in modem mode and have had no issues until recently when my partner's employer installed a Vodafone line for her to work from home.

the Vodafone engineer, amongst other things, has moved the Deco from the Virgin Media router to the Vodafone router and I want to move it back as we have been paying for an upgraded broadband service with Virgin Media.

Simply unplugging the Ethernet cable from the Vodafone router and connecting it to the Virgin router doesn't work as the Deco status lights just turn red.

What do I need to do to get the Deco working with Virgin again?  Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

You did not tell that, so I am clarifying: have you just reconnected Ethernet cable, or did you powered off/on Deco, too?

To avoid issues, the right process should be: power off all Deco, then reconnect Ethernet cable, then power on Main Deco. If this is successful, power on Satellite Deco in any order.

  @Alexandre. Thankyou.  Sorry, didn't see the email until just now.

I did turn off the deco, but think it was after I'd connected the cable rather than before so will try again and let you know.

Cheers

Jonathan

This is strange. If both Virgin Media router and Vodafone router are regular routers with multiple Ethernet ports, Main Deco should be able to connect to them just like any other wired device, such as desktop PC.

The only thing is, if one of them is not "regular" router, or if Vodafone engineer configured Main Deco with static IP address. In Main Deco router settings, check Connection Type setting and if it is set to Dynamic IP. If it is, I am out of ideas, and if it is not - that may be why.

  @Alexandre.

Hi Alexander, thank you for all your help.

I checked the settings and it was dynamic.  In the end I bit the bullet and restore the Virgin router to factory settings, connected the first deco and it came ip successfully.  I haven't turned the Virgin router into modem only mode so will see if it gives any issues.

All the best

Jonathan
