I have a problem with my newly installed Archer C64.

Internet works great, wired network works great.
WiFi woks great for Lenovo PCs and Mac.
The trouble is with Samsung phones and tablet.


I've tried all kinds of WiFi configurations: smart smart connect, no smart connect, 5GHz only, 2.4GHz only, same result.

Connected without access to Internet, and Internet won't work indeed. But sometimes it does.

A50 phone more or less works but sometimes it doesn't.

A52SG5 sometimes works, but does not most of the time.

Galaxy Tablet won't work at all.


Now I did a trick: connected my good old AC750 as an access point to wired network and made separate WiFi networks there.
Internet <-cable-> C64 <-cable-> AC750 <-wifi-> SamsungPhone
Phone connects to WiFi, but no Internet again.

Phone is able to connect to 192.168.0.2, which is AC750

Phone is not able to connect to 192.168.0.1, which is C64, connection times out.

 

C64 does show all the phones as connected, IP addresses are leased to them.
My conclusion is it is not WiFi issue at all. The C64 does not want to accept phone traffic.

I have a WiFi capable microcontroller, ESP32. It would connect to WiFi and is visible in local network. But does not see Internet either.


Needless to say, I have restarted my router, I've restarted my phones, wiped screens clean and performed rain dance ritual. Now I'm bothering you, guys.

Degradation continues, today I lost connection in one of my table PCs.
I put the old AC750 back and pack the C64 to send back to vendor.

I am using Archer C64 without any issue so far, but with FW 1.11.30. I noticed that you're on the latest FW version - 1.12.0. Can you downgrade to the previous version 1.11.30 and check if there's any difference - here are the FW releases.

Thanks for your advice.
I went to the page you recommended, there are three versions of the firmware.
Whichever I download, unpack and try to feed to the update form on the router, it says "Failed to update the firmware. Please check the configuration file and try again."
Probably I am doing something wrong, right?

In the bottom of the update page I choose Local update, browse, choose c64v1-up-noboot_2021-06-09_20.06.25.bin and push Update.

I restored factory settings on a router and reconfigured everything again. It works for now. We'll see how long it lasts...

Yes, that's the procedure, just like upgrading the FW, but with an older version.

You're doing it just right. Some FW releases can't be downgraded and this is stated in the release notes. For the current v1.12.0 it isn't stated that can't be downgraded - hence my thought it should be possible to downgrade to the V1.11.30.

I was talking about this version (I presume you're with the EU region FW):

 

 

Reset C64 to factory defaults, login and then try downgrading to the version I pointed, without making any additional configuration on the device.

Funny thing, the link you gave me points to the very similar page, but the little differences: different versions and no version numbers, only builds.

Check your Archer C64 bottom sticker and confirm whether it's a Archer C64(EU) or Archer C64(US) region device.

The FW regions are not interchangable. You have to use a FW release for the same region, which is printed on your device bottom sticker.

If it's a EU region device use this link. If it's a US region device use this link.

Here is EU it has to be EU version and it actually is, according to the sticker.
Thanks for the link, I will try to reflash it after the Xmas or if the bug strikes again.
