Hi - I have two linked networks in my home - for super fast connection to the NAS my PC runs on a 2.5G ethernet connection, for internet connection I have 1G fibre connection. There are two switches in the network, one 1G and one 1G/2.5G - the fibre modem is directly connected to the 2.5G WAN port on the AX6000 and the 2.5G and 1G switches are connected each to the 1G ports on the AX6000. Obviously I can't connect the 1G modem to a 1G port on the AX6000, so it seems like WASTE of connection speed not being able to use that 2.5G port. As wifi 6 allows for up to (theoretically) 9.6Gps to wifi 6 devices how would I connect the NAS to the AX6000 at 2.5G? I can't think of a topology that uses the port's full potential - HELP!

AX6000's 2.5 Gbps WAN port can't be used to connect a NAS in your LAN.

The only way to utilize more than 1 Gbps for the NAS in your LAN is to use a Static Link Aggregation (LAG) available with 2× LAN ports.

Here's a guide on how to configure this scenario. To utilize such bandwidth, client computer should be connected to AX6000 wirelessly.

  @terziyski Thanks - that's still only 1Gx2 - AND requires SPECIALIST 1Gx2 on the other side as well for the aggregation. Looks like the MULTI-GIG connection marketing blurb on the AX6000 website is pretty much marketing HYPE.

 

It's not hard to free/allow the 2.4G connection to be a TRUE MULTI-GIG EXPANSION port and use one of the 1G ports for WAN from internet Fiber. But as usual TP-LINK have created a LOCK-IN.

 

I expect 0.000001% of folks can ACTUALLY have internet that uses the 2.5G port for WAN/INTERNET connection - probably doesn't actually work either.
