Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.5.6 B20211018 Rel.35617

Hi,

I have an M9+ V2 as the main node connected to a Virgin Media modem. The main M9+ node is then connected to a further 5 deco nodes (2 x M9+ and 3 x M5) through a Netgear unmanaged switch. All connections between components is wired Ethernet.

When I start the M9+ main node, I get 350Mbps download speed. Within a a few hours, it will drop to 80 or 90 Mbps. If I turn off /on the M9+ main node, the speed with return to 350Mbps for another few hours, before once again dropping to 80 or 90Mbps.

Any ideas what could be happening? I am using the Deco app and all M5 and M9+ nodes are running the latest firmware.

Thanks for any ideas.

Simon.

How do you measure download speed?

Thanks for the reply. I have mainly used the in built Deco iOS app "Test internet speed" feature. The interesting thing is whatever approach I have used, the drop in speed is always there using the same methodology/tool. So even if the tools measurement approach isn't perfect, the relative speed drop is always present.

"Test Internet Speed" feature checks the wired speed between Main Deco and the Internet. If speed drops to 80-90Mbps, it could mean the link between Main Deco and modem/router it is connected to became 100Mbps instead of gigabit. The prime suspect is Ethernet cable between Main Deco and modem/router.

I would recommend replacing it by different cable and see if problem goes away. Try Ethernet cable that came with Deco set, or any cable of good quality and, just in case, not flat cable.
