TP Link deco M5 Mesh
I have the above attached to my Virgin Media Hub 5 .
Should the HUb 5 be in standard or Modem Mode ?

Both can work, depending what you use M5s for.
For example: do you need M5s to provide WiFi coverage only, or do you also use their content filtering and parental controls features?
Also, do you have enough technical knowledge to troubleshoot Internet issues? If you switch Hub5 to modem mode, your ISP may have less troubleshooting tools available for them and may even brush off your escalation as "third party hardware issue" meaning Deco.
Let me know.

Hi Thanks for taking the time to reply to me . At this stage I'm only using them for Wi Fi

That's what I am using my M5s for, too.
In that case, I would recommend the following:
1. Keep Virgin Hub 5 in its standard mode
2. Turn off WiFi in Hub 5
3. Configure Deco mesh to run in Access Point mode. In that mode, Deco will provide WiFi coverage and will depend on Hub 5 router for network management (IP addresses allocations and such).
