Firmware Version: 1.6.5

hi I'm hoping someone can help me. I need to change the way the above is configured.

my Main deco is my living room as that is connected to my router.

liams and Isabella's are in the loft right above Jamies.

and Jamie's is right above the kitchen deco.

is there anyway to reconfigure it to be like:

living room

        |
Kitchen

        |
jamies room

    |.          |
isabella.   Liam

reason I ask is Jamie's getting really bad download speeds in his room and im unsure if it's becasue it is further away from the living room deco

obviously if im wrong please and other ideas would be great.

to give you an idea in the living room I get 600mb download speed, in Jamie's room I only get 70ish.

thanks for any help in advance.

  @Jamhead23

You can do that with Deco mesh consisting of M5 units, see this FAQ document: How to select a preferred signal source on the Deco App

  @Alexandre.

thankyou that worked to sort out where they should be connected but not the speed.

I have 1gb internet so would understand it dropping some as we go down the chain but not down to 70mb

any ideas?

house is 3 floors, speed downstairs is fine in kitchen and living room, but drops when I get to the bedrooms.

thanks

thanks

Each WiFi mesh hop cuts WiFi speed by half. This is not a defect in Deco mesh, it is the limitation of WiFi mesh technology. You can find more about it by googling "WiFi range extender cuts bandwidth by half."

Assuming you start with 600Mbps for Main Deco, which is outstanding for Deco M5, this is what you are supposed to get at each hop:

living room (600Mbps)

        |
Kitchen (300Mbps)

        |
jamies room (150Mbps)

    |.          |
isabella.   Liam  (75Mbps each)

There are two options to improve WiFi speeds:

1. If you could wire Satellite Deco with Ethernet cable (or alternatives) that will remove one hop. For example, if you can wire Kitchen Deco to Living Deco, your Deco mesh should change to these speeds:

living room (600Mbps)

        |<----------------------Ethernet cable
Kitchen (600Mbps)

        |
jamies room (300Mbps)

    |.          |
isabella.   Liam  (150Mbps each)

2. Another option is to replace dual-band M5s (all of them) by tri-band M9 Plus Decos. Tri-band does improve speeds. In tests I did at my house Satellite M5 connected to Main Deco delivers under 250Mbps, while Satellite M9 Plus connected to M9 Plus Main Deco delivers up to 450Mbps.

I can't guarantee you'll see the same improvement if you replace your Deco M5s with more expensive M9 Plus.
