Hello,

 

my TP-Link Router is connected through the Gateway Port to my Fritzbox. I tried to ping and access my Fritzbox but without any success. 

 

My TP Link Network is 192.168.178.1.50 - 192.168.2.254. Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1 and Subnet is 255.255.0.0.

 

My Fritzbox network is 192.168.178.50 - 192.168.178.200 and the Fritzbox itself has the IP 192.168.178.1.

 

On my TP-Link Router in Network => Routing I added a static route to network destination 192.168.178.1, Subnet 255.255.255.255 Interface LAN/WAN and Default Gateway 192.168.1.1.

 

I cannot ping nor access my fritzbox. Any ideas what I did wrong?

Assuming the connection is Fritzbox LAN port => AX3000 WAN port:

Your Fritzbox DHCP network is 192.168.178.50 - 192.168.178.200 and the Fritzbox itself has the IP 192.168.178.1.

If your AX3000 WAN port is set to "Dynamic IP" it should obtain an IP address from this range (192.168.178.50 - 192.168.178.200).

When setting AX3000 LAN IP address (for example 192.168.1.1/24 i.e. with netmask 255.255.255.0) you should be able to access Fritzbox IP (192.168.178.1) without setting any static route on AX3000.

As pointed out by @terziyski , you should not have any problems accessing the Fritzbox if your network is set up correctly.


I am slightly confused as to why your AX3000 network is so large (subnet mask 255.255.0.0) and also has overlapping IPs with the Fritzbox in the 192.168.178.x range. If things are still not working for you, I have several questions:


1. How are the two routers interconnected?  WAN-to LAN?  LAN-to-LAN?


2. Are you using a PC for accessing the AX3000 and the Fritzbox?  If so, what IP address (and subnet mask) is assigned to the PC?  Where is the PC connected?


3. Is the DHCP server enabled in both routers?  If so, what is the range of the AX3000 DHCP server?
