ER8411 internal DNS
ER8411 internal DNS
Hello,
I have adopted the router with the v5.9.31 controller and I have not seen any section to be able to configure the DNS servers that the router will use to resolve requests from local networks.
I think what the router does is use the DNS servers of the network operators that appear in the wan interfaces, right?
I would like to be able to customize the DNS servers the router uses.
In other manufacturers, there is also the option to activate a function called "dns boost":
DNS resolution speed by forwarding all DNS request to multiple fast public DNS servers simultaneously (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 and 9.9.9.9), then fastest response will be redirected to clients in LAN.
Can you implement it?

TP-Link does not have a DNS server, so here you have to use another solution.
DNS boost isn't there either, but something called DNS cache has arrived to speed up DNS requests, this is currently only available on ER605v2, coming soon to ER8411

Yes you can specify dns server on WAN and on LAN interface.
there is also support for DNS Proxy if you want that

Dns proxy is not available, nor does the option even appear on the controller.
Do I have to activate any option for it to appear?

I use Omada controller 5.12 for windows, I think 5.8 is first version with DNS Proxy.
And Router must have version 1.1.0

Everything perfect, now I just hope they implement DNS cache and Dns boost.
It is a good hardware but it is necessary to polish the software, especially in performance.

nice, yes tp-link has a lot of work left on this router, DNS cache will probably come in the next upgrade, it has already come to ER605v2
