Hi,

I have very strange issue on my network. From provider I have 250/250 Mbit link, and when I connect my laptop to a router port via ethernet cabel, it really goes around this speed. But when I connect via wifi 6, 5GHz band, than download speed is stucked to 100 mbit very precisely, floating between 95-105Mbit. Upload goes almost twice as higer to 180-190Mbit.

 

I thought it is some issue on router so I took my router to a friends apartment, where is different provider, with 300Mbit dowlink. Connected router to modem, without any changes in config, and tested speed over wifi  - it goes easy to 300Mbit.

 

Than I took another TP link router, AX20, connected to my home network and I got very same issue on wifi. Stucked to 100 mbit. So I am pretty lost in this, it looks like when any tp-link router connects to my AP, it negotiate speed on wifi to 100mbit, or something like that... but ethernet works correctly... how is that even possible? What should I test next?

 @Branik80 Hi, when you test the same router at your home and your friend's home, did you use the same wireless client device?

At your home now, please check the wireless link speed between the router and your wireless client device:

How to check the associated/link speed on a wireless client

 

You could also try changing the WiFi channel and channel width on Advanced->Wireless->Wireless Settings page to see if it helps, If you don't see the option to change WiFi channel, please disable Smart Connect first.

Hi, yes I used always same devices, my laptop, and phone. The only thing that changed during test is link provider and its gateway. I even did not have to change ip settings on tp-link router in friends apartment.

Associated link speed on wifi is 1.2Gbps, so no problem here.

I also tried change channel, did not help. During speed measurement it doesn't look like interference issue, since the speed is pretty constant, straight line, not jumping up and down, not influenced when I move around in room. So it look more like some protocol is cutting it at 100mbps... :(

Did you check your QoS settings?

Also when connected to tplink router via ethernet you get full speeds?

  @Aashish_AS What should I check in QoS? it is in default settings right now.

Yes connection via ethernet cable, connected to this router, gives me full speed around 250/250 Mbit

Hi, Since your Archer AX23 works fine at your friend's house, the issue seems not to be the router, do you still have any old Wi-Fi router, especially with different brand?

If so, please test and confirm if the wireless speed is similar to the Archer AX23 and AX20.
