Catch 22 OMADA ER8411 10G to 1G WAN
Installing an 8411.
Using 10G SPF+ port to connect to a modem with 1Gig port.
The issue is the 10G port does not auto negotiate, it is default to 10Gig full duplex.
Ah, no big deal, right? Just log in to the web interface of the 8411 and set the SPF+ port to 1G. BAM! Works!
Then join to OMADA... And.. It returns to 10G again. Hey, no problem, just change the speed to 1G in OMADA.. If only that was an option. And EVEN if it was an option, how could one even change it? If the 8411 can't connect to internet..? I found a work around by using 2 WAN's, the 2nd WAN being a normal 1G Ethernet port. But, no matter, as there is no setting to change the 10G port speed / duplex in OMADA interface. CATCH22
Basically, you can't connect the 10G port to a 1G device (modem) when using OMADA. CATCH 22 type of problem.
I guess I "can" just use one of the other WAN ports. But that is not the issue. The issue is the 10G port has no auto negotiate. Is there a practical reason for this?
