Deco parental control website block not working
Good afternoon everyone
I am having a weird issue regarding parental controls on the Deco M5. It has been working flawlessly for the last 2 years.
I set YouTube and YouTube Kids as a blocked website on my kids ipads after they've had a couple of hours (so I can limit how much time they have on it) and I noticed yesterday that even after adding youtube and YouTube Kids to the blocked websites, they were able to still go on YouTube on the apps. Adult sites are still being blocked and blocking Internet access also still works.
I added my Samsung S23 Ultra to the same group and I can also still access YouTube and YouTube Kids, but only on the apps. If trying to access it in a browser, it doesn't allow me on it. However I added BBC to the block list, and it allows me on it on my phone and the Ipads.
However a GoogleTV which I've added to the same profile, can't access youtube or youtube kids on a browser or on the apps. But can still access BBC.
I have updated my M5's to the latest firmware (1.7.1).
Taken Youtube and YouTube Kids off the block list and then readded them.
Rebooted the M5's.
Turned the M5 off that we were all connected to and connected to the same one the GoogleTV is connected to.
Recreated the profiles and re-added the Ipads to them.
Taken "Private WiFi address" off in network settings.
Rebooted the Ipads.
All with the same results.
TLDR; Youtube and YouTube Kids are blocked when trying access on Safari / Chrome. But are accessable on the apps. BBC is accessable on Safari / Chrome even though its on the block list.
Anyone got any suggestions as I am now at a loss.

@David-TP what is the ETA for Deco X20 v1.2 and for M9 Plus firmware updates?

Hi, and this is frustrating, right now I'm fighting the same thing with them and today I will have live TeamViewer session. Mine is xe75pro model. And for sure i will not purchase the home shield and parental control. But the mesh and WiFi are great, also I like VPN feature, not advanced but works.

Dear Sir
Any update regarding Deco X60, I have similar issue that all of a sudden, it doesn't work and I am in terrible with my kids profiles, nothing works except blocking the whole internet access and this is for more than a month now.
And just to let you know, this is the key feature that I bought the product because of, if I lost it, I would drop deco and look for another solution.

One of my four Deco M5's has updated.to 1.7.3, but the other.3 are stuck with the previous firmware version.

Decided to try YT Kids again as the kids are off school next week.
Decos M5's have been updated to 1.7.3
Youtube Kids is still not being blocked by adding YouTube and YouTube Kids to the block list. Same as before, adding m.youtube.com, youtube-ui.google.com, youtubei.googleapis.com to the block list has no effect and still allows access to YT.
Adding BBC to the block list denies access to BBC as it should. And having YT on the block list denies access in the browser but not in the YT Kids app.
Trying to go on adult websites seems to be blocked still.
Steps tried:
Restarting Decos
Restarting ipad
Recreating profile

I still have the same issue. My model is X20 and its latest firmware is 1.5.2. Can anyone confirm if the new firmware 1.7.3 will be coming to X20 and when? Much appreciated!

Hi, I think my deco M5 firmware is updated to 1.7.3 Build 20230906 but still parents control is not working. My kids go to any website wherever they want, even though I blocked.
Please help.

I've notice not only is Deco not blocking apps/sites on the blocked list, it is also not cutting internet and set bedtime AND not showing anything in the history for any profile!

@Jdmar I had the same. The reason was that I was configuring parental control from mobile connected to my guest network. Chceck if you are connected to main network
