Model: TL-SG2218
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.8 Build 20230602 Rel 73473

My SG2218 cannot connect to the cloud controller. Connection status is OFFLINE. I have

1. enabled Cloud Based Management

2. updated firmware

3. able to ping  omada.tplinkcloud.com (108.158.213.109) from the switch and access the time server. So there is internet on the switch

4. the gateway/router on where the switch is plugged on into is being managed by the cloud controller.

5. i have added the switch to the same controller and router is able to see the switch on the client list. But on the device list has the switch as preconfigured and unactivated.

thanks.

Hi @dicken

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Refer to 1.1. Preparation - How to Add Omada Devices to Omada Cloud-Based Controller

Two possibilities for this kind of issue

Scenario 1. On default settings, but no Internet or power.

Scenario 2. With power and Internet access, the switch is not on default settings, which means you have configured the switch. Forget on your CBC and reset your switch and perform the steps of add a new device.

Clive, Thanks for the reply. 1. There is power and internet on the switch, able to ping 8.8.8.8 and omada.tplinkcloud.com. Also able to get ntp time. So definitely there is internet of the switch. 2. Even in the absence of the CBC, the switch connection status should be ONLINE meaning it is connected to the cloud but pending adoption. Right now, it is showing OFFLINE. I have drop and add the switch to a CBC, but it showing the switch to be offline.

Hi @dicken

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Are you saying that you have followed the guide?

You've reset it, removed it from the CBC, made sure the Internet and power are available on the switch, and on CBC added it again, it shows "offline" now?

  @Clive_A

yes, followed the guide up to clicking on the Cloud Based Controller Management checkbox on System -> Controller Settings. The status will be

online when the switch is connected to Omada Cloud and not managed by the cloud based controller yet

offlie when the switch is not connected to Omada Cloud
