Model: Archer AXE5400
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi, in the last couple of weeks I've purchased the following:

TP-Link AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Router, Wi-Fi Speed up to 5400 Mbps, 5x Gigabit Port, 1× USB 3.0 Port, 1.7 GHz Quad-Core CPU, with TP-Link OneMesh™and HomeShield, Compatible with Alexa(Archer AXE75)

And a:

TP-Link AXE5400 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E Range Extender, Broadband/Wi-Fi Extender, Wi-Fi Booster/Hotspot with 1 Gigabit Port, 160 MHz Channels, Built-In Access Point Mode, Easy Setup, UK Plug (RE815XE)

Both advertised as WiFi 6e devices which are compatible with OneMesh.

As I do not wish to "Waste" the 6e signal going to my 6e range entender and to maintain maximum speed I have them connected with ethernet with the Ranger Extender in AP mode.

How do I get OneMesh to work? and get 6e working across both 6e devices?

thank you.

You can have mesh between these devices only if you connect them wirelessly.

When RE815XE is in AP mode (wired) it won't support building a mesh network.

Thank you for the reply.

Ok, I understand so I need to disconnect the ethernet cable link and use it wirelessly, I can make that change yes.

So as they are both the latest WiFi 6e matching devices:

TP-Link AXE5400 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E Router,

TP-Link AXE5400 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E Range Extender

Once I do that, disconnect the cable and enable OneMesh, it means I will then have a mesh working with WiFi 6e working from both devices. Yes?

Is that correct?

Thank you.

Not really. You have to switch your RE815XE back in range extender mode first.

Then use this guide to build a Onemesh between the AXE75 and the RE815XE.

Thank you for the reply and the link to the guide.

Yes, as you say I will need tochange the device back into extender mode.

Just to fully clarify things before I start making changes.

Once I make that change and follow that guide, will this then mean that I will have a WiFi 6e enabled mesh working between these two WiFi 6e devices?

So I will be able to connect to either device with WiFi 6e speeds from my phone, laptop etc?

thank you.

Just follow the guide and when you configure the Onemsh you'll see what the mesh is and what it can do.

Here's the 'e' part of the wireless settings:
