8 port gigabit switch limits

I just bought a 8 port gigabit switch thinking that i will have my computer and etc with 1000mbs speed download but its limited to 100mbs. Even though my router is 1gbps. And when i connect stuff directly to my router it gives me 850mbps.. so whats the problem ?? Why is it limiting to 100mbps ?

Thanks for posting in our business forum.
Try a different cable. It sounds like it does not sync to 1Gbps link speed. Cable's not good enough or bad which limits the link speed to 100Mbps.
