Model: Deco   Deco X20
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have HFC NBN with NBN connection box and (currently) Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2. If I connect a TP-Link Deco x20 mesh system to the NBN connection box, can I also connect the Telstra modem to the Deco x20 in order to utilise VOIP?

Why can't you connect X20 to Telstra Smart Modem instead? According to Internet, that modem has four Ethernet LAN ports. This how they will be connected together:

NBN connection box <-----> Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 <-----> Main Deco X20

@Alexandre. Thanks Alexandre, thought that might be the case. Presumably I would disable the Telstra modem's wifi and utilise the VOIP function only. Hopefully there won't be any decline in bandwidth porting through the Telstra modem LAN port to the X20 mesh network. I am switching ISP, are you aware if Telstra has any features locked to its network? I've been using the Telstra modem for >3 years.

I am not familiar with Telstra modem, just recommending common sense configuration.

Yes, you should turn off WiFi on Telstra modem. Also, after initial Deco mesh setup, I would recommend configuring Deco mesh to run in Access Point mode: Switching a Deco to Access Point (AP) Mode

After you switch ISP and have modem/router from new ISP set up and running, connect Main Deco X20 to that new ISP modem/router and your Deco mesh should just work.
