I got a Deco M9 Plus mesh with two nodes in my main building. I want to extend my wi-fi to my guest house which is about 15 meter away.

For this I bought a TP-link RE450. The RE450 extender and the main Deco M9 node are located on the inside of the outer walls facing towards each house - i.e roughly about 15 meter apart. Reason I bought an extender instead of another M9 node is because I assume the extender, with its external antennes, would perform better at this distance.

I currently have two issuses:

1. The RE450 doesnt extend the mesh. It creates a separate network and it also uses a different app (Tether).

2. The signal strength isnt great. It works farily well, but video streaming sometimes lag ...

From the info above, would anyone recommend a better solution?

Range extenders are rarely a good idea - they significantly cut your speed/bandwidth. Avoid them like the plague.

Add another M9 Plus (or Deco of your choice) to extend your mesh. 15m is not far apart - especially if you have clear line-of-sight. Keep the number of walls between those 2 units to a minimum, and you should be perfectly OK. (Do you have windows nearby? The signals *usually* pass easier through glass than through walls.)

Buy from Amazon, and return immediately if you're not happy.

If you still have issues with that arrangement, you could also add a wireless bridge to span the distance, and add an M9 plus on the guest house end (M9s wired to each end of the bridge with an ethernet cable). That would add to the cost a bit, but would guarantee full signal strength.

Good luck! :)
