@Cgarn No i haven't found a fix yet, sadly. Been too busy to dig into it any further or call support. Honestly might have to switch back to my Netgear system and try and get a refund on these Decos which I'm not sure is even possible as I had them sittign in the box for a while... Sigh..

@Vitszy Can you provide a factual description of your configuration?

If the laptop is close to the main Deco, how come the Deco in the garage is the closest?

Is the wifi active on your ISP modem, or only on the Deco?

How are your Deco interconnected?

Does the issue happen with a device hardwired onto the main Deco?  With a device connected by wifi to the main Deco?

@yves_b Laptop and PC are on the bottom floor, same floor as garage, 1 room over. I had the 'garage' Deco in the same room as the laptop/PC as well, connected via a long cable, to the internet modem in the garage, and observed the same issue. No difference if I move the 'garage' Deco to be in the same room as the laptop & PC, or if I keep it in the garage.

I will try running a cable from the Deco to the laptop or PC and see if the drops / latency spikes stop and report back.

Yes I believe the internet modem also emits Wifi signal which is used for the TV box. When I moved the Deco away from the internet modem (by running a long cable from the garage into the room next door) it made no difference.

Main Deco (bottom floor/garage) is connected by cable to the internet modem. 2nd Deco is connected to the main Deco wirelessly and is on the 2nd floor. 3rd Deco is connected to the 2nd Deco wirelessly and is on the 3rd floor. All components in the TP Link app and my laptop & desktop show full connectivity bars all green health.

@Vitszy The wifi of the Internet model has another name than the wifi of the Deco?

I assume you eliminated the possibility of a defective cable or a defective port.

I would also try swaping Deco, to use another Deco as main.

@yves_b Update, I reset all three Decos and swapped a different unit to be the main one connected to the router, and so far that seems to have resolved the issue. I'm no longer getting any latency spikes or timeouts.

Frustrating to say the least, since nothing fundamentally is different other than using a different unit for the main. Makes no sense.

At least it's fixed.. for now..

Thanks for the suggestion.

Same thing here.

I had cheaper TP-Link WiFi extender products:

TP-Link RE450

TP-Link WA860RE

I wanted to upgrade for something better;  because of all features I bought "future proof"  Deco X50 2 pack + 1 pack (3 devices).

PROBLEMS:

Poor coverage:

Its so poor, that with 3 devices in my house I have less WiFi signal then with RE450 + WA860RE.

Its so bad, that sometimes there is even NO signal.

Poor speed:

Main device speed: 1000Mbit

3 metres up from main device there is second one.

You want to know speed of 2nd device?

300Mbit.

One concrete wall and speed drops from 1000 to 300Mbit.

Bad latency and drop-out issues from main device:

Every minute there is ping dropout:  25ms / 27ms / 24ms / 26ms / 1368ms / 25ms / 27ms / 24ms / 26ms / 25ms / 24ms / 0ms / 27ms /  25ms / 27ms / 24ms / 26ms / 1368ms / 25ms / 27ms / 24ms / 26ms / 25ms / 24ms / 0ms / 27ms /  etc.

By all meaning, this product is super disappointing.
