Model: ER7212PC
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3

Dear all,

it's a third day of severe issues with my ER7212PC and so far I have not received any response from support - maybe the Forum can help.

I've upgraded firmware from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 on Tue. I have 4 APs directly connected to the router and powered therefrom + one switch, which has two more APs connected.

After an upgrade, wifi started behaving strangely not authorising any users. I've manually rebooted the router (plug off and on), after which only one out of total 9 APs was broadcasting wifi. As I was unable to troubuleshoot what went wrong, I've decided to downgrade and use my automatic weekly backup to bring the previous state in.

Unfortunately, downgrade wipes out all the settings and restoring from backup yielded with an error when 77% achievement was made.

After 2 days of upgrading (to 1.1.3) and downgrading (to 1.1.2) of the firmware and multiple errors when restoring, I've managed to restore to the latest backup. Router is still not being adopted (although I have re-set it to factory settings) and although APs were adopted correctly, they still do not broadcast wifi. I get IPs over LAN cables, VLANs seem to work OK, however it's far away from having a stable network as it was before. I'm now on 1.1.3.

Any ideas how to force the adoption of router + even more importantly - force APs to broadcast wifi? I've now spent around 12 hours trying to fix that problem and I'm really unhappy.

  @marcle Pls note that TP-Link removed firmware 1.1.3 from their web page and released firmware 1.1.4, which is fixing the bug. I've installed 1.1.4 and so far works fine, stable and most importantly - with all the settings 'restored' so to say (i.e. settings of wifi networks, VLANS etc, are working fine)

  @mimi234 BTW - I see that on the web page https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/er7212pc/v1/#Firmware - controller is stated to be 5.8.38 in firmware 1.1.3, however it actually is 5.8.60.

  @mimi234

very strange that you have problems with wifi, what type access point do you have? can you also send a screenshot of your wifi settings?

SSID config..

  @MR.S

Hi!

I have EAP265 HD; EAP225; EAP615-Wall; EAP610-Outdoor; EAP653; some connected directly to the ER7212PC; some connected through omada POE switch; some connected through non-Omada switch via VLAN (and powered via POE). Basically now all of them are not broadcasting wifi although they are adopted.

Funnily - when I added one more 'test' network, it got broadcasted, but the existing ones are not. Change of name or some settings of the existing WIFI did not 'force' EAPs to broadcast, so I'm assuming I would need to delete and re-establish the wifi, which I don't want to do, as it should come from the backup...

After (yet another) reboot I am unable to provide you with screenshots. In the meantime TP Link support is on the case

  @mimi234 TP-Link support is on the case and claim they have isolated the issue. Waiting for firmware update...

I am having issues too.

After update wifi network is completely offline. Only wired devices can connect.

Downgraded to 1.12 and reset from factory and now APs are constantly rebooting/readoptiong. What a Sh**ty update.

Is there a fix? All EAPs are EAP655-Wall on 1.2.6

  @GoodOmens Cannot comment on your specific issue, however I understand that TP-Link is aiming to issue a firmware update next week for ER7212PC. It is supposed to address issues with restoring from backup, however I can't comment if your issues are connected to mine. Suggest you wait for a firmware update next week and if the issue persists - reach out to TP-Link.

I agree that it's a 'Sh**ty' update and I've provided Support with feedback. In my case it's now the second week without internet running on TP-Link devices. I would not have a problem with update issues, if these were Beta (early release channel), but given 1.1.3 is an official one, I do think it should have been tested in a better way...

Anyhow - I do hope that TP-Link learns out of this (and other cases) and that the firmware update will resolve all of our issues.

Have a nice weekend and greetings from Vienna!

  @mimi234

Having the same issues after the upgrade to 1.1.3. Wireless networks are offline after every AP provisioning, reboot and some specific configuration changes. I was able to work it around by disabling and re-enabling wlan networks in every AP's settings at Config -> WLANs. Need to do that after every reboot though.

  @tVSf I've tried that with one AP and unfortunately it didn't work (i.e. I turned off all WLANs and turned them again). The only thing that worked was to create a new WiFi from scratch

I apologize, this is how I do it:

Tx. I tried that - didn't work for me (I've tried for one AP - maybe works on other models)
