Getting intermittent internet drop outs (ethernet and wifi) on this router. They will coincide with the following logs:

This has been happening for quite some time and I've tried the following

  • Replaced routers
  • Replaced modem
  • Replaced ethernet cables from modem to router
  • Replaced network switch connected to the router

 

My home has ethernet cabling throughout that can't be easily switched out with the AX20 connected to other AX20s and C80s (in AP mode). The dropouts have become less frequent since I replaced the network switch that was connected to the main router (new AX20) but it is still occurring. The dropout is very brief, about 2-3 min (see the time on the logs) and then comes back on, but is extremely unpredictable. Before some of the equipment changes above the dropouts could occur every hour or so. Now it is maybe every 6 hours.

 

I have tried connecting directly to the modem and there are no dropouts when doing so, which rules it out as an ISP issue.

 

This has been occurring for months (maybe even years as I recall spotty internet years back) and has been very frustrating because I cannot pinpoint the issue causing it. Can I get any help please? Thanks.

According to your detailed description, it is suggested to change the DNS server of the main Archer AX20. Here are the steps: Login the web management interface of the Router > go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Advanced Settings, change the two DNS Servers into 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.

 

If the unstable connection issue persists, we need your help to provide us with the information below for further analysis:

  1. Who is your ISP?

  2. Model number of your modem. 

  3. Your exact network topology, including all modem,routers and switch.

The issue persists even with the change in DNS servers, and it's not the first time I've tried changing DNS servers.

May I confirm that you have connected a computer to the modem directly via Ethernet cable before and the internet connectivity is stable?

And the Archer AX20 you are using is a brand-new replacement?

When the internet drops on the main router AX20, what is the status of the internet LED (global icon)?

The AX20 is brand new. The connection to the modem directly through ethernet is stable (I tested for a few hours). Modem is also brand new. The LED will usually be red but sometimes it is tough to check because the internet is usually in the middle of coming back online by the time I realized it has gone down.
